6 Ways Avocados Contribute To Your Dog’s Overall Health.

Here are 6 ways avocados contribute to your dog’s overall health:

Pup parents have often relied on other pup parents for firsthand dog parenting advice: How often should I feed them? What should I feed them? What foods should I avoid?

“Whatever you do,” your friend says, “don’t ever feed your dog avocados.”

Though you should avoid giving the skin or pit of an avocado to your dog (or anyone for that matter), the supple, light green meat of the avocado offers a variety of life-enriching vitamins and minerals to humans and dogs alike.

1. A Heartier Heart

Avocado meat provides a variety of nutrients, but is especially rich in niacin, or vitamin B3, which has been linked to the prevention of heart disease.

2. Mighty Muscles

A solid source of high-quality protein, avocados also contain 18 amino acids, which are responsible for growing new muscle tissue in the body. Sounds like avocados will turn your pup into a mighty mutt in no time!

3. Improved Digestion

Just one word: FIBER. We all need more of it. Even your dog. Fiber regulates the quality of digestion and colon health, and a high-fiber diet can reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes.

4. A Shinier and Healthier Coat

A shiny coat is a healthy coat, and there’s no better shine to be had than the shine offered by a ripe avocado! Practically bursting with omega fatty acids and vitamin E, avocados help bring out the luster in your pup’s coat. The (very necessary) fatty acids help distribute water throughout the body and into hair. Vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin, helps do the same.

The same fatty acids and vitamin E from above also work in conjunction with the vitamin A found in avocados to help maintain the health of your pup’s skin.

5. Bright Eyes

Not only does vitamin A work with vitamin E and the omega acids to make the skin and coat healthier, but vitamin A can also help maintain your dog’s vision.

6. Better Nutrient Absorption

As you can see, avocados are chock full of a variety of vitamins and minerals, but we have yet to mention one of the best: vitamin C. That’s right, good old vitamin C improves your dog’s ability to absorb all nutrients. That means that avocados are so healthy that they help your dog get the most nutrition they can out of all the other food they eat! Whoa!

And just think, there are people out there who avoid feeding their dog avocado!
